All Catholic secondary schools in the area work co-operatively in the matter of Year 7 enrolments to ensure that each applicant is given due consideration and opportunity to find a place in a Catholic school. If you apply to another Catholic secondary college please ensure you clearly state on the application form which school is your first preference.
For Year 7, 2012 first round offers were posted on Monday 2nd May 2011. Families then had until Friday 20th May to accept the offer of a place, which is done by completing the Acceptance of Place Form and returning it to the College with the $500 securing deposit (which is not refundable, but will be deducted from your first term fees of 2012). If acceptance is not received by the due date, the place will be offered to a student on the waiting list.
Prior to commencing your son will sit the ACER (Australian Council of Educational Research) test. For Year 7, 2012 this is scheduled for Saturday 20th August 2011. The results of this test help us determine the educational requirements of your son and allow us to prepare for Year 7. They do not determine entry into the College.
Your son will also attend an Orientation Day, normally held the first Tuesday in December of the year before your son commences. For Year 7, 2012 this is scheduled for Tuesday 6th December 2011. On this day your son will be in his Year 7 Homeroom with his teacher. That evening there is a Parent Information Evening, to allow parents to meet the teachers and provide further information on commencing Year 7.
Please note that siblings must have submitted an Application for Enrolment Form and necessary documents to be considered for a place.
Year 7 (during the school year) to Year 12 Entry
St Joseph’s College sometimes has a limited number of places available at other year levels. If you are considering applying for Year 8 to Year 12, or Year 7 during a school year, please first contact the Registrar to check the availability of places.
Upon receipt of the completed Application for Enrolment Form, with accompanying documents, the Registrar will arrange an interview with the appropriate Head of School.
After the interview, successful applicants will receive a Letter of Offer. To accept, the Securing Form must be returned to the College in the time frame identified, with the $500 securing deposit which will be deduced from your son’s first term fees. The offer will include information such as commencement date, booklists, and other information relating to your son commencing.
Before commencing, senior students will meet with the Head of School to make subject choices.

The Principal may exercise some discretion in particular pastoral circumstances.
